Understand The Structure Of The ARM Template In Azure

In this article, we will understand the structure of the ARM template in azure.

Creation Of A Virtual Network

In this article, we will try to understand the structure of the template for the virtual network. For that, we will first create a virtual network.

Specify the Name and the Resource Group of the virtual network.

In the next tab, you can specify the address space of the virtual network.

Click on the Review + create button to start the data validation. Once the validation is done, click on the Create button to create the virtual network.

Once the virtual network is created, you can go to the Subnets submenu to see the subnets created in the virtual network.

Understand The Template

In the template, the first section specifies the name of the virtual network.

Secondly, we have the resources attribute where you can specify the type of the resource. In this case, we have the resource of type Virtual Network.

As mentioned above, we have an address space for the virtual network. Here, the address space is mentioned as the property of the virtual network.

In the next section, we have the details of 2 subnets created in the virtual network.

The above 2 subnets are also resources. So, there will be a separate entry of resources of type subnets.
