Target Tracking Scaling Policy Of Auto Scaling Groups In AWS

In this article, we will discuss the target tracking scaling policy of auto-scaling groups in AWS.

Purpose

In the target tracking scaling policy, you can specify the metrics and their target value. If the target value of the metrics is reached, an instance is added to the autoscaling group.

Creation Of Target Tracking Policy

While creating the autoscaling group, you can specify the target tracking scaling policy in the Configure group size and scaling policies step.

Here the seconds warm up before including in metric specifies the time (in seconds) after which the EC2 instance will be added, if the target value of the metrics is reached.

Let us assume that you have specified 300 seconds as a warm-up period. So, if the target value of the metrics is reached then an EC2 instance is added after 300 seconds.
