What Does The Shifting Of Traffic Mean In Lambda Function?

Shifting traffic in the lambda function means controlling the portion of an incoming request that is directed to each version of the lambda function.

Why Is The Purpose Of Shifting The Environments?

When you have a live application that users depend on, rolling out updates can be risky. By shifting traffic gradually to a new version of your Lambda function, you can mitigate the risk of introducing bugs or performance issues to all users at once.

Create Multiple Versions Of Lambda Function

The first step is to create multiple versions of the lambda functions.

Create An Alias Of The Lambda Function

Create an alias. In Alias, specify the additional version and distribute the weight 50%.

It means that the traffic is distributed 50-50 in both versions. Click on the Save button to save the alias.

Specifying Alias In The API Gateway

Once the alias is saved, specify the alias in the API gateway.
