Versions And Aliases In AWS Lambda Function

In this article, we will discuss versions and aliases in AWS lambda function.

Versions

Once the lambda function is created, you can create different versions of your code. For doing that, click on the Versions tab.

Click on the Publish new version button (see the picture above). A popup window will appear where you can specify the version name.

Enter the Version description - optional and click on the Publish button.

Once the version is created, you can go to the lambda function and modify the code.

Once the code is modified, deploy the code by clicking on the Deploy button (see the picture above). Go to the Versions tab and create one more version.

Aliases

An alias is the pointer to the specific version of code. For creating an alias, click on the Aliases tab.

Click on the Create alias button. A popup window will appear.

In the popup window, enter the Name, select the Version and click on the Save button to save the alias.
