Resource Policy In The AWS API Gateway

This article explains the resource policy in the AWS API Gateway.

Purpose

The purpose of a resource policy in AWS API Gateway is to control access to API resources by defining permissions based on identity and conditions.

To begin with, create an AWS API Gateway service. On the API Gateway menu, click on the Resource policy.

A screen appears on the right-hand side.

Click on the Create policy button. The following screen will appear.

Enter the policy JSON and click the Save changes button.

The resource policy also provides predefined templates.

When you select a template, the JSON is populated.

To set the authorization at the IAM level, click on the method and go to the Method request.

In the Method request settings section, click the Edit button.

In the edit screen, set the Authorization method as AWS IAM.
