Migrate Volume From One Region To Another In AWS

In this article, we will migrate volume from one region to another in AWS.

Scenario

For this article, we will migrate volume from the us-east-1a to the ca-central-1 region.

For migration, we will work on the following steps: -

So, let us get started.

First, create a new volume in the us-east-1a region.

To create the snapshot, select the volume and click on Actions → Create snapshot.

A screen will appear to create a snapshot. Enter the Description and click on the Create snapshot button.

The snapshot is created.

To copy the snapshot, select the snapshot and click on the Actions → Copy snapshot.

The Copy snapshot screen will appear. On the screen, you can enter the Description and select the Destination Region.

Click on the Copy snapshot button to create the snapshot.

First, change the region to ca-central-1.

In the snapshot screen, select the snapshot and click on Actions → Create volume from snapshot.

The Create Volume screen will appear. Enter the details and click on the Create volume button to create the volume in the ca-central-1 region.
