Integrate Sonarcloud With Azure Devops

In this article, we will integrate sonarcloud with Azure DevOps.

Setting Up The Connection Between Azure Devops And Sonarcloud

To set up the connection, go through this link.

Steps

For integration, we will work on the following steps.

Creating the token
Create an organization.
Create the project
Create the pipeline in Azure DevOps
Queue build

Create The Token

To create the token, go to this URL - https://dev.azure.com/GSorg21/_usersSettings/tokens. On the screen, click on the "Personal access tokens" link.

A screen appears on the right-hand side. Click on the "+ New Token" button.

A screen appears to enter the token details.

Click on the "Create" button to create the token. A screen appears with the generated token.

Create An Organization

For creating the organization, go to https://sonarcloud.io/. Click on the "My Account" link from the top right-side of the screen.

In the "My Account" screen, go to the "Organizations" tab. Click on the "Create" button.

A screen appears where you can enter the Azure DevOps organization name and the token generated in the previous section.

Once the details are filled, click on the "Continue" button. In the next screen, you can specify the key.

Click on the "Continue" button. Finally, a screen appears to choose the plan. For this article, I am choosing the free plan.

Click on the "Create Organization" button to create the organization.

Create The Project

Once the organization is created, we will create a new project. Once the organization is created, a page will appear to create the organization.

Click on the "Create new project" button. A screen appears to select the project from the Azure DevOps.

Select the project and click on the "Set Up" button. The next screen will be to select the analysis method.

Select the first option i.e. "With Azure DevOps Pipelines". Once you select the option, the following screen will appear.

The project is created in SonarCloud.

Create The Pipeline In Azure Devops

To create a new pipeline, click on the "New pipeline" button.

A window appears to select the type of repository. Select the "Use the classic editor" link.

In the next screen, click on the "Continue" button without changing anything.

In the next screen, select the template. For this example, we will select ".Net Desktop".

In the next screen, you have a list of tasks. Click the "+" button to add new tasks.

In the search screen, add the following 3 tasks i.e. "Publish Quality Gate Result", "Prepare Analysis Configuration" and "Run Code Analysis".

Arrange the task in the following order.

In the "Publish Quality Gate Result" task, specify the "Sonarqube Service Endpoint", "Organization" and "Project Key".

Save the pipeline.

Queue Build

Queue the build and you can see that build is completed successfully in Azure DevOps.

And you can see the code analysis in sonarcloud.io

Java_Home Exists But Does Not Point To A Valid Java_Home Sonar

If you are using the self-hosted agent and you are getting this error then go to the agent path (_work\_tasks\SonarCloudPrepare_14d9cde6-c1da-4d55-aa01-2965cd301255\1.20.0\classic-sonar-scanner-msbuild\sonar-scanner-4.6.1.2450\bin) and add the java.exe path in "sonar-scanner.bat".

Please note that path may vary from machine to machine.
