Instance Stores In AWS

In this article, we will discuss instance stores in AWS.

Purpose

An instance store is a temporary block-level storage for your instance. The instance store is used to store temporary data like cache, buffers, etc.

Data Persistence

The data is persisted during the lifetime of the associated instance. Data is persisted even if the associated instance reboots.

Data in the instance store is lost when: -

The underlying disk fails
The instance hibernates, stops, or terminates

Can We Detach The Instance Store From One Instance And Attach It To Another Instance?

No.

How To Create An Instance Store?

At the time of creating an image, you have an option for adding a volume. While adding the volume, select the Volume type for instance store.
