Connect To AWS RDS Using Node.Js

In this article, we will connect to AWS RDS using node.js.

Create a publicly accessible database.
Create a node.js program to access RDS.

Create A Publicly Accessible Database

First, create a publicly accessible MySql database using RDS. You can follow this link.

Create A Node.Js Program To Access RDS

Write the following code in notepad or any other text editor.

var mysql = require('mysql');

var connection = mysql.createConnection({
  host     : '<Your database host>',
  user     : 'admin',
  password : 'test1234',
  port     : 3306
});

connection.connect(function(err) {
  if (err) {
    console.error('Database connection failed: ' + err.stack);
    return;
  }

  console.log('Connected to database.');
});

connection.end();

Save the file as "RDS.js".

Output

To execute the above program, open the node.js command prompt and execute this command.

npm install mysql
