Backup Of One Web App And Restore It To The Other Web App In Azure

In this article, we will take the backup of one web app and restore it to the other web app in Azure.

Creation Of 2 Web App

We will create 2 web apps i.e., source and destination. Please note that the price tier should be "Standard" and Runtime stack should be "ASP.NET V 4.8".

Deploy The Application On Source Web App

We create a sample web form project and deploy it using visual studio on "sourcewebapp".

Backup Of The Sourcewebapp

To back up the web app, go to the "Backups" submenu in the web app. Click on the "Configure" button to start the backup configuration.

In the configure screen, enter the storage account and container name where you want to store the backup as a zip file. Click on the "Save" button to save the configuration.

Once the configuration is done, scroll down to the "Backups" screen and initiate the backup by clicking on the "Backup" button.

Once the backup is succeeded, a message will appear below the backup button. To restore on the target web app, click on the "Restore" button.

A screen will appear where you can select the storage account (where backup file is stored as zip) and the target web app.

Click on the "Ok" button to start the restore process.

Once the restore is completed, you can see the target web app the same as source web app.
