App Service Plans In Azure

In this article, we will discuss App Service Plans in Azure.

Purpose

The App Service Plan provides an infrastructure for hosting a web app, web API, or mobile backend service.

All parameters in the table are self-explanatory. But let me explain the term Maximum instances in the next section.

What Are Maximum Instances?

Consider an example, where you are hosting 2 web applications in the single app plan. After some time, you add one more web application in the app service plan.

In case, any metrics have reached its threshold value (for example the CPU percentage is greater than 80%) and 1 virtual machine is not sufficient to cater the needs of the web applications. So, one more virtual machine is added in the app service plan.

So, there are 2 instances of the virtual machine.

How To Create An App Service (Or Web App) In Azure

First, click on the + button on the left-hand side menu. A page will appear to create resources. In the Web App, click on the Create link.

A page appears to create the app service. Enter all the details and click on Review + Create button for validating the input data.

Once the data is validated, click on the Create button to create the app service.

In the last subsection i.e., App Service Plan, you have an option to change the app service plan. To change the plan, click on the Change size link.

A docked window will appear on the right-hand side to select the plan.

Once you create the application, you can see that a URL is assigned to the web app.
