AWS Database Migration Service

In this article, we will discuss the AWS Database Migration Service.

Creation Of Source And Target Databases

First, create 2 RDS databases i.e., the source and destination database instances.

Create Table And Insert Data In Source Instance

Inside the source instance, create a database gyansangrah. Inside the database, create a table and enter the data.

Create Replication Instance

For creating the replication instance, search Database Migration Service and click on Database Migration Service in the search result.

On the left-hand side menu, click on the Replication instances menu option.

The following screen will appear. Click on the Create replication instance button.

In the Create replication instance screen, enter the Name.

Scroll down and select the High Availability as Dev or test workload (Single-AZ).

Scroll to the bottom and click on the Create replication instance button.

Your replication instance creation has started. The Status is changed from Creating to Available.

Note → The subnet group contains at least 2 Availability Zones.

Create Database Endpoints

The next step is to create the database endpoints. For that, click on the Endpoints inside the Migrate data menu.

The endpoints screen will appear.

Click on the Create endpoint button. In the Create endpoint screen, select the Endpoint type as Source endpoint. Then select the RDS Instance as the source.

Scroll down to the Endpoint configuration section and enter the credentials of the database.

Scroll to the bottom to click on the Create endpoint button. Similarly, create the target endpoint.

For creating the target endpoint, select the Endpoint type as the Target endpoint.

The rest of the steps are the same. Both the endpoints are created.

Create The Database Migration Tasks

First, click on the Database migration tasks from the left menu.

The following screen will appear.

Click on the Create task button. A screen will appear to create the task. In the Create task screen, enter the Task identifier.

Scroll down to select the Source database endpoint, Target database endpoint, and Migration type.

Scroll down further to add the selection rule.

Scroll down further and uncheck the checkbox Turn on premigration assessment.

Scroll to the bottom and click on the Create task button. The task will be created. The Status is changed from Creating to Ready to Load complete.

Output

The table and data are migrated to the target database.
