AD Join The Windows 10 Machine

In this article, we will AD join the Windows 10 machine.

What Does AD Join Means?

"AD Join" refers to the process of joining a computer running Windows operating system to an Active Directory (AD) domain. If the following 2 conditions are fulfilled then devices are AD joined: -

The device should be owned by the organization
Users can log in to the machine using the Azure active directory user credentials

What Are The Settings Required?

Go to the default directory of your organization (or any other directory) and click on the "Devices" → "Device settings".

In the "Device settings" screen, enable the following settings: -

Users may join devices to Microsoft Entra
Users may register their devices with Microsoft Entra

Create A User

The next step is to create a user.

What Are The Steps Required In A Windows 10 Machine?

First, enter the word "access work" in the start menu. Click on "Access work or school".

The settings screen will appear. Click on the "Connect" button.

A popup window will appear to select the account type. Enter the email address and click on the "Next" button.

A popup window will appear asking for the credentials. You can use the username and password from the Azure AD. Once the authentication is done, your device is AD joined.

You can check your device by going to the "Devices" menu inside the Microsoft Entra in the Azure portal.
