Variable Manager In Automation Anywhere 10.5

In this article, we will discuss variable manager in automation anywhere

Variable Manager

Variable manager is used manage (add/delete/modify) variables.

To open variable manager, click on the ‘Variable Manager’ tab on the right-hand side of the task editor.

As you can see in the screen shot above, we have ‘Add’, ‘Edit’ and ‘Delete’ buttons for adding, editing and deleting variables.

Example

In this example, we will add a variable in message box. For that, click on the ‘Add’ button in variable manager. Once clicked, following window will appear

Here you can enter name and value and click on save. Once the variable is saved, you can see that in ‘Local Variables’ section in ‘Variable Manager’.

Now drop a message box command and inside the message box, add a variable.

It is important to note that variables could be added using F2 key. Once the key is pressed, following window will appear

You can select any variable and click on ‘Insert’.

Output

Now run the application and you will get following output

Local Variables Vs System Variables

In automation anywhere, there are 2 types of variables

Local variables – These variables are created by programmers using variable manager.
System variables – These are predefined variables created by automation anywhere.
