Transfer Acceleration Feature Of AWS S3 Bucket

In this article, we will discuss the transfer acceleration feature of the AWS S3 bucket.

Purpose

Consider a scenario, where we want to transfer 1 TB of data from one location to another.

The transfer may take some time based on the location and size of the data. To expedite the transfer process, AWS transfers the data to the nearest CloudFront edge location, and then the data is transferred to the actual location through the Amazon network.

This is called transfer acceleration. The process is chargeable and the benefit is that the speed of transfer increases.

How To Enable Transfer Acceleration For S3 Bucket?

To enable the transfer acceleration, go to the Properties tab and scroll down to the Transfer acceleration section.

Click on the Edit button. The following screen will appear.

Select the Enable radio button and click on the Save changes button. Please check the Accelerated endpoint. This endpoint is used to initiate the transfer.
