Split The User Stories Based On The Entry Method In Agile

This article describes how to split the user stories based on the entry method in Agile.

Purpose

Splitting a user story by entry method means breaking it down based on how users interact with the feature or system. The entry method refers to how users can initiate or perform an action through a web interface, mobile app, API, or other channels.

Example

Consider the following user story.

As a customer, 
I want to place an order 
so that I can buy products conveniently.

The above user story is split into: -

Web Application

As a customer, 
I want to place an order through the web application 
so that I can use my desktop browser.

Mobile Application

As a customer
I want to place an order through the mobile app 
so that I can order on the go.

API

As a third-party partner
I want to place an order through an API 
so that my system can integrate with your platform.
