Run Automation Scripts In Azure Portal

In this article, we will discuss how to run automation scripts in the Azure portal.

Steps

For executing the automation script, we will work on the following steps.

Create an automation account
Create a runbook
Run the script in the runbook

So, let us start.

Create An Automation Account

For creating an automation account, search the word "automation account" in the search box. Click on the "Automation Accounts" service in the search box.

On the automation accounts page, click on the "+ Create" button.

A screen will appear where you can specify the following fields.

Subscription
Resource Group
Automation account name
Region

Click on the "Review + Create" button for data validation. Once the data validation is done, click on the "Create" button to create the automation account.

The automation account is created.

Create A Runbook

Once the automation account is created, go to the details screens of the automation account. Click on the "Runbooks" menu on the left-hand side.

A screen will appear on the right-hand side. Click on the "+ Create a runbook" button.

A screen will appear to enter the following information.

Name
Runbook type
Runtime version

Click on the "Create" button.

The edit screen will appear. Write the python script.

Once the script is added, click on the "Publish" button. A confirmation message will appear.

We are ready for script execution.

Run The Script In The Runbook

On the runbook screen, click on the start icon

A window will appear on the right-hand side.

Click on the "Ok" button. The execution is in "Queued" status.

Once the execution is completed, you can see the output.
