What Is A Prompt?

A prompt is the instruction, question, or input given to an Artificial Intelligence (AI) model to guide it in generating a response.

Zero-Shot Prompting

Zero-shot prompting means asking the AI to perform a task without providing any examples. The model relies entirely on its pre-trained knowledge to understand and complete the task.

Example

Translate the following sentence into Hindi:
"Artificial Intelligence is transforming the world."

Free-Shot Prompting

Few-shot prompting involves providing a few examples before asking the AI to perform the task. These examples help the model understand the desired pattern and output format.

Example

English: Apple
Hindi: सेब

English: Mango
Hindi: आम

English: Banana
Hindi:

Chain-Of-Thought (Cot) Prompting

Chain-of-Thought prompting encourages the model to reason through a problem step by step before arriving at the final answer. This is particularly useful for mathematical, logical, and analytical problems.

Example

Roger has 5 apples. He buys 3 more apples and then gives away 2 apples. Think step by step and calculate how many apples he has now.

Chain Prompting

Chain Prompting (also called Prompt Chaining) breaks a complex task into multiple smaller prompts, where the output of one prompt becomes the input for the next prompt.

Example

Prompt 1
Generate five blog topics about Artificial Intelligence.
Output:
1.	AI in Healthcare 
2.	AI in Education 
3.	AI in Finance 
4.	AI Ethics 
5.	Future of AI 

Prompt 2
Create an outline for the topic "AI in Healthcare."
Output:
1.	Introduction 
2.	Benefits of AI 
3.	Applications 
4.	Challenges 
5.	Conclusion 

Prompt 3
Write the introduction section based on this outline.
Output:
A detailed introduction is generated.
Each step builds upon the previous step.
