Ordered Insert In Mongodb

In this article, we will discuss the ordered insert in MongoDB.

What Are Ordered Insert?

The ordered insert is the default behavior of MongoDB for inserting the document. Consider the following picture: -

The data is inserted in the following order i.e., subject1, subject2 and then the subject3.

Consider the following insertMany method: -

db.Articles.insertMany([{_id:4, subject:'subject4'}, {_id:2, subject:'subject2'}, {_id:5, subject:'subject5'}])

The above statement will throw an error because _id:2 already exists.

If the ordered insert is enabled then only the first record will be inserted and the third record will not be inserted.

Consider the following insert statement: -

db.Articles.insertMany([{_id:5, subject:'subject5'}, {_id:2, subject:'subject2'}, {_id:6, subject:'subject6'}], {ordered:false})

In the above statement, the error will be thrown again because of the duplicate _id. But both the other values will be inserted.
