Multiline Textbox In Lightswitch 2011

In this tutorial I will explain how to create multiline textbox in lightswitch application.

Software Requirement

Before you start reading this tutorial you should make sure that

Visual studio 2010 is installed on your machine.
Visual Studio 2010 service pack 1 is installed on your machine.
Microsoft Visual Studio Light switch 2011 is installed on your machine.

Prerequisite Knowledge

Before you go ahead, it is required that you should know

How to create lightswitch screens?

Add An Empty Screen In The Project

For this tutorial a screen of type New Data Screen is added in the project. Please check the screen shot below for screen designer.

Add Data Item

To add a new data item click on Add Data Item…

A pop up window appears. Select String from Type drop down, enter name as MyTextBox and click Ok.

Once you click Ok the data item is added on the left hand side of the screen as shown in figure below

Now drag MyTextBox on the screen.

Set Textbox Property

To set the textbox property, click(single click) on the textbox and press F4 from your key board. In the property window click on Lines radio button and enter the number of lines.
