What Is The MARS Agent?

Steps Of Backup

1. Create a virtual machine with the back option enabled
2. Go to the details of the Recovery Services vault and click on the Backup submenu
3. On the right-hand side, a window will appear where you can select different options
4. Change the field Where is your workload running? to On-Premises
5. Select the field Where do you want to backup to Files and folders

6. Once both options are selected, click on the Prepare Infrastructu… button

7. A screen will appear where you can download the MARS agent and credentials file (steps 1 and 2)

8. Following files will get downloaded: -
   1. MARSAgentInstaller.exe
   2. defaultVault190_Tue Apr 20 2021.VaultCredentials
9. Copy both files and paste them on the virtual machine
10. Click on the MARSAgentInstaller.exe file in the virtual machine to install it
11. Once the installation is completed, a button Proceed to Registration will appear

12. Once you click on the Proceed to Registration button, a screen will appear to select the credentials file

13. Select the file defaultVault190_Tue Apr 20 2021.VaultCredentials and click on the Next button
14. In the next window, you select the passphrase used for encryption. You can either give your passphrase or generate the passphrase

15. Finally, click on the Finish button

16. Once the Close button is clicked, the MARS agent will appear
