Life-Cycle Management Of The AWS S3 Bucket

In this article, we will discuss the life-cycle management of the AWS S3 bucket.

Purpose

Consider the following requirements: -

Create a bucket with storage class = standard
Change storage class = standard-IA after 30 days
Change storage class = Glacier after 60 days
Delete the bucket after 180 days

This can be implemented using life-cycle management.

How To Implement Cycle Management?

First, create a bucket. Inside the bucket, go to the Management link.

Click on the Create lifecycle rule button. A screen appears to create the rule. Enter the Lifecycle rule name and select the Choose a rule scope.

Scroll down to specify the Lifecycle rule actions.

Scroll down to check the checkbox I acknowledge that this lifecycle rule will incur a one-time lifecycle request cost per object if it transitions small objects and specifies the expiry duration.

You can see the Timeline summary. Click on the Create rule to complete the rule creation.

A rule is created.
