Prerequisite

Before you start reading this article, you should be aware of the basics of KMS.

Key material is the secret key for encrypting and decrypting the keys in AWS.

Key material origin specifies the source of the key material. There are three sources of key material: -

While creating the key, select the key type as Symmetric. In the Advanced options, you will get an option to specify the key material origin.
