Purpose

The $isoWeekYear operator is used to extract the ISO week-year from the date.

What Is A Week-Year?

As per the ISO 8601 standard, the week-year system is where each week belongs to the year in which most of its days lie. A week starts on a Monday and ends on a Sunday.

Consider the following dates: -

Date	Weekday
29-Dec-2014	Monday
30-Dec-2014	Tuesday
31-Dec-2014	Wednesday
01-Jan-2015	Thursday
02-Jan-2015	Friday
03-Jan-2015	Saturday
04-Jan-2015	Sunday

In the above table, 3 weekdays are in 2014 and 4 weekdays are in 2015. So, the week-year is 2015.
