What Is Desktop Virtualization?

Desktop virtualization is a way to divide the single server machine virtually into multiple parts. Each part has their own operating system.

In other words, multiple virtual desktops are running on the single server machine. There are many vendors in the market that facilitates the creation of virtual desktop environment

What Is VDI?

VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) is the virtual desktop running on the server machine.

Parent And Child Partition

Let us not go into the detail and jot down some points

Server that implements virtualization is having one parent partition and one or more than one child partitions.
Parent partition can access hardware resources whereas child partitions cannot access hardware resources.
An image (Operating system and software) can be created on parent partition and can be pushed to multiple child partitions.
