Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Vs. Solid State Drive (SSD)
Data Tier
- Hot tier → Data that is frequently accessed
- Cold tier → Data that is less frequently accessed and stored for at least 30 days
- Archive tier → Data that is rarely accessed and stored for at least 180 days
Different Storage Type
- Standard HDD → This disk is used for
- Web servers
- Lightly used enterprise application
- Dev/test machine
- Standard SSD → This disk is used for
- Back up
- Non-critical applications
- Applications or data that require infrequent access
- Premium SSD → Used in production and performance-sensitive workloads
- Ultra-disk → Used for transaction heavy workload
