Disable Push Operation On The Remote Branches

In this article, we will disable push operation on the remote branches.

Steps Of Disabling Push Operation

For disabling push operations, go to the "Project settings"

In the "Project settings", click on the "Repositories" menu.

A list of repositories will be shown.

Click on any repository. For this article, we will click on the "myrepo.git" repository. On the right-hand side, there will be three tabs i.e. "Settings", "Policies" and "Security".

Click on the "Policies" tab.

Scroll down to the "Policies" tab and scroll down to the bottom. At the bottom, you have the branches of the selected repository. Click on the "main" branch.

Another screen will appear. Scroll down to the bottom to add the reviewers. Click on the "+" button.

A docked window will appear on the right-hand side. Enter the reviewer name and click on the "Save" button.

A reviewer is added on the branch.

Push On The Remote Branch

Once the setting is done on the remote repository, add a new file "3.txt" on your local machine.

Execute the commands to push the file from local machine to remote repository.

As you can see in the picture above, you will get an error when you try to push the changes on the remote repository using the "git push" command.
