Difference Between .Net 5.0 Core And .Net 6.0 Core

In this article, we will discuss the difference between the .net 5.0 core and .net 6.0 core.

Webapplication Class

The WebApplication class is used to configure the HTTP pipeline and routes.

In .Net core 6.0, Program.cs and Startup.cs are merged into a single file.

In .Net 5.0. We have ConfigureServices and Configure methods for configuring pipelines.

Whereas in .net core 6.0, we use the WebApplication class.

In .net core 5.0, we use the following code to get the connection string value.

public Startup(IConfiguration configuration)
{
            Configuration = configuration;
}

// Read configuration
Configuration["ConnectionString"];

In .Net core 6.0, we use the following code to get the connection string value.

var builder = WebApplication.CreateBuilder(args);
// Read configuration
builder.Configuration[“ConnectionString”]

In .Net core 5.0, we use IServiceCollection in the ConfigureServices method.
