CSV Data Set Config In Jmeter

In this article, we will discuss "CSV Data Set Config" in jmeter.

Purpose

"CSV Data Set Config" allows you to use external data source in a CSV format.

CSV File

In the CSV file, we have a single column "query". There are 2 rows in the CSV file that we will use to query Google search engine.

Steps

We will perform following actions

Add a "CSV Data Set Config" element.
Add "HTTP Request".
Add "View Result Tree".
Add "While controller".

Let us work on each step.

Adding "CSV Data Set Config" Element

To add "CSV Data Set Config"

Right-click on "Thread Group".
Go to "Add" → "Config Element" → "CSV Data Set Config".

Next step is to add parameters in "CSV Data Set Config".

Please pay attention to the variable name "query". We will use this variable in "HTTP Request".

HTTP Request

Second step is to add an "HTTP Handler".

Here, we have added a parameter "q". The value of the parameter is the same parameter "query" that we have added in "CSV Data Set Config".

While Loop

In the "While" loop, add the following condition

Final step is to put the "HTTP Request", "View Results Tree" and "CSV Data Set Config" element in the "While controller".
