Cookieless Session

In traditional ASP page sessions were stored as a cookie on the browser.If cookie is disabled then session object cannot be populated.

ASP.NET overcomes this weakness by cookieless session

ASP.NET cookieless session is configured in web.config file

<sessionState mode="InProc" cookieless="true" timeout="20" />

mode = "InProc" → It means session object is stored in the server's memory
timeout="20" → Session timeout is 20 min
Cookieless="true" → Cookieless session

After making session object cookieless when you run the program the URL will come like

http://localhost:56919/(S(ohgywv3htqex0z55u4xlkwmr))/default.aspx

Here (S(ohgywv3htqex0z55u4xlkwmr)) is the session variable. ASP.NET engine extracts SessionID from the querystring and then associate user request with appropriate session.
