Commands For Deleting The Container And The Docker Image

In this article, we will discuss the commands for deleting the container and the docker image.

Prerequisite

Before reading this article, ensure Docker is installed on your machine.

For deleting the container, first, stop the container. Use the following command to stop the container.

docker stop <container Id>

For stopping all the containers in one go, use the following command: -

docker stop `docker ps -q`

Then use the following command to delete the container.

docker rm <container Id>

For deleting the containers in one go, use the following command: -

docker rm `docker ps -a -q`

To delete the image, write the following command: -

docker rmi <image Id>

For deleting all the images in one go, use the following command: -

docker rmi `docker images -q -a`
