Azure Storage Explorer

In this article, we will discuss the storage explorer application.

Purpose

Storage explorer is an application to access the storage resources like blobs, files, etc. through any device or platform.

The storage explorer resembles the windows explorer in the windows operating system.

Create A Storage Account

For this article, we will upload the file inside the container of the storage account.

You can access the storage account using the access key as shown in the figure below.

Storage Explorer

You can either open the storage explorer from the Azure portal or install a standalone application.

First, we will explain how to access the storage explorer from the Azure portal. For that, search the storage explorer in the search box.

Once the storage explorer is opened, you can see the list of storage resources.

Storage Explorer Standalone Application

For using the standalone application, you must install it. For that, you can navigate to this URL.

https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/features/storage-explorer/

An Azure Storage Explorer home page will appear. Click on the Download now button to download the setup.

Once the setup is downloaded, click on the setup to install the application.

Connect To The Storage Explorer

To connect to the storage explorer, click on the connect icon as shown in the picture below.

A window will appear to select the type of resource. Click on the option Storage account or service.

Another screen appears to select the connection type. As we will access the storage account using the access key, so we will select the option Account name and key.

Click on the Next button. In the next screen, we must enter the access key and the storage account name.

Click on the Next button. Finally, a summary screen appears to confirm the details.

Click on the Connect button to complete the connection. The storage explorer now displays the list of storage account resources.
