Autoscale A Virtual Machine Instance In App Service Plan

In this article, we will autoscale a virtual machine instance in the app-service plan.

How To Scale Out The App Service Plan?

To scale out the app service plan, go to the Scale out (App Service plan) submenu in the web app detail screen.

A screen appears on the right-hand side area.

Select the Scale out method as Rules Based. Click on the Manage rules based scaling link. The following screen will appear.

Select the option Custom autoscale. Scroll down to the page and click on the Add a rule link to add a new rule.

A screen appears to enter the metrics, threshold value, and action. In the below figure, we have the following values: -

It means that if the memory percentage is greater than 30% then increase the virtual machine count to 1.

Click on the Add button to add the rule.

Once the rule is added, change the Maximum from 1 to 2 and click on the Save button to save the changes.

As the memory percentage is greater than 30% then the virtual machine instance is changed from 1 to 2.
